The World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on 7th April under the sponsorship of WHO and other organization. Like every year World health day 2018 was celebrated by Kalinga Institute Of Nursing Sciences on 7th April .Different activities were organized among the students of KINS based on the theme “UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE: EVERYONE ,EVERYWHERE”.A blood donation camp was organized in collaboration with blood bank, PBMH, KIMS. The effort of Professor Amarita Lenka, Principal, CON and Mrs. Kulumina Dash ,Programme coordinator ,CON along with faculties and students of KINS were acknowledged by Prof. Hrusikesh Mohanty, Vice-Chancellor, KIIT Deemed to be University, Mr. Panchanan Parida, Management Representative, PBMH, KIMS, Prof. Dr. Jyotin Kumar Dash ,Principal, KIMS, Prof. (Dr.) S. B. Ogale, Director ,PBMH, Prof. Dr. S. K. Sathpathy, Director, KSPH and Dr. Lalita Patnaik, CMO, KIMS as they visited ,encouraged, appreciated Dr. N. Brahma along with his team cooperated in this camp and 39 units of blood was collected and focused on Art of Giving effectively. The role play was performed at Panda Park Basti, Niladri Vihar, and Bhubaneswar by the student of BSc 2nd year and GNM 3rd year in the guidance of Asst. Prof. Mrs.Soumya Sonalika and accompanied by Miss Pramoda Kumari Nayak, Principal, SON and Prof. Mrs Niyati Das, Vice Principal, CON, KINS. There were around 150 numbers of audience from the Panda Park Basti, Niladri Vihar.
The afternoon session commenced with lighting the lamp by the dignitaries. Prof. Mrs A. Lenka addressed the gathering. Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Kumar Sathpathy, Director, KIIT School of Public Health unfolded the theme of the day and highlighted on the importance of the day. Prof. Dr. Jyotin Kumar Dash, Principal, KIMS emphasized on WHO activities for improvement of health facilities. Major Gen (Dr) P.K. Pattnaik Medical Superintendent, PBMH, KIMS delivered speech on true scenario of current health status of our country. Prof (Dr) S.B. Ogale, Director, PBMH, KIMS focused on improvement of health care. Mr Panchanan Parida, Management Representative, PBMH, KIMS highlighted on founder Prof Achyuta Samanta dedication towards KISS University and his contribution in health care. Prof Rambabu Kodali, Pro Vice Chancellor, KIIT, Deemed To Be University elaborated with his vibrant words about health as the most valuable resource Human capital and concluded with the magical words of Lord Buddha. At last, Prof Mrs. A. Lenka felicitate Prof Rambabu Kodali, Pro Vice Chancellor followed by vote of thanks by Prof Mrs. Niyati Das, Vice Principal, CON, KINS. After the formal meeting a quiz competition was held among students of KINS and conducted by Mrs. Soumya Sonalika, Asst Prof and Ms. Elina Jena, Tutor. There were five groups Karl, Koch, Kirchoff, Kraepelon, Kendrick and the Koch group won with highest score. There was a poster competition held on the same day judged by Prof. Ansuman Panigrahi, Dept. of Community Medicine, KIMS and Miss Payel Dash, B.Sc. Nursing 1st year won the first prize.
