Department of Pain Management & Palliative Care Medicine in the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), KIIT Deemed University is providing comprehensive multidisciplinary care for managing various chronic, and intractable pain conditions.

The department is run by Dr. Rajendra Kumar Sahoo, who has 2-years of Advanced Pain Management Fellowship training at University of Toronto, Canada. Furthermore, Dr. Sahoo is the ONLY pain specialist in India to have “two musculoskeletal ultrasound diplomas” for diagnosis and management of various musculoskeletal and neuromuscular pain syndromes like shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, soft tissue pain and nerve-related pain conditions.

The department follows the “bio-psycho-social model” of pain assessment and consists of a team of doctors and other support staffs including physical and occupational therapist, clinical psychologist, nurses and other specialist doctors.
